Popular Contemporary Wedding Prelude Music
If you are looking for contemporary wedding prelude music, this page is meant for you! While other possibilities abound, the songs on the list below are a nice fit for prelude music.
By the way, ever wonder exactly what makes a song contemporary or not? Good question. The answer, however, can be a bit fuzzy. There's a couple of ways to look at the situation:
Music can be classified as being contemporary or not based upon when the song was written. But here again, there is some leeway. For example, when reaching adulthood, would a person with a birth year in the 1980s consider music written before s/he was born (ie. in the 1970s) to be contemporary? On the other hand, music written in the 1960s is a lot more contemporary than music from the 1800s!
In addition to the "when", music is sometimes thought of as being contemporary based upon how it is written. For instance, a song can be written in a certain way using note intervals and rhythms that give the song a contemporary-sounding flair. Pop tunes are often good examples.
Obviously then, an arbitrary line has to be drawn somewhere! So for this particular list, contemporary is defined as those songs that were written in the 1970s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s. Many also have that "contemporary sound".
A quick word about the links themselves: Just click on a song title to go to an Amazon downloadable MP3 song clip. Those song clips that do not link to an MP3 song clip are linked to a CD containing that particular song. The location of the song on the CD is listed for you beside the song title.
Also, in some cases, a song title is listed more than once. In that case, a different arrangement is listed for more listening options. When this happens, the type of arrangement is listed in parentheses beside the song title.
